Tony Dierckins

Zenith City’s publisher Tony Dierckins is an author and book designer from St. Paul, Minnesota working and living in his adopted home town of Duluth, Minnesota. Dierckins has worked in publishing since 1988 and has written or co-written nearly two dozen books, from the ridiculous Duct Tape books and calendars to the informative Crossing the Canal; An Illustrated History of Duluth’s Aerial Bridgea 2009 finalist for the Minnesota Book Award. He is the 2012 recipient of the Duluth Depot Foundation’s “Historic Preservation and Interpretation Award,” part of their annual Arts & Culture Awards. His most recent book, with Maryanne C. Norton, is Lost Duluth: Landmarks, Industries, Buildings, Homes, and the Neighborhoods in which They Stood, a finalist for the 2013 Minnesota Book Award.

In the mid 90s he and Duct Tape co-creator Tim Nyberg operated Bad Dog Press, a national humor publisher specializing in parodies of self help books. In 2002 Dierckins began publishing books under the the business name “X-Communication,” which he had been using for freelance work. The publishing house’s focus soon turned to local history, which prompted a 2012 name change to Zenith City Press and the birth of Zenith City Online.

In 2005 Dierckins began X-presso Books to market his book design services and to offer affordable, quality self-publishing solutions; to date X-Presso has helped both individuals and organizations bring more than twenty titles to press, from simple poetry collections to full-color coffee table histories.
