PAM’s New Southeast Partnership Coordinator & Regional Office

On September 1, 2014, PAM officially opened its first field office in greater Minnesota. Located in Rochester and serving a 20-county region, the Southeast Minnesota Field Office is being established by the organization’s newest staff member, Erin Dorbin. Erin arrived at PAM this fall holding ten years’ experience in public history, preservation, community organizing, digital media production and neighborhood revitalization—and most importantly, a fondness for Southeast Minnesota.

The Southeast region PAM now serves stretches from Martin, north to Brown County, east to Goodhue and south to Houston County. Here, PAM’s focus is to establish sustainable partnerships with individuals and organizations to cooperatively facilitate preservation projects and initiatives, as well as to expand its growing preservation network. Within this regional framework, PAM can best respond to questions, local needs and concerns brought forth by citizens, organizations, and local governments regarding the future use of our valued and aging architectural resources. PAM believes these one-on-one interactions achieve a greater awareness of the availability of regional preservation resources, as well as build capacity for positive development and adaptive reuse strategies.

As Erin continues to explore the area, engage in one-on-one conversations with residents, developers, business owners and local decision-makers, attend local community meetings and events, she will gather firsthand knowledge about the places that matter to you, better understand what is valued about your local heritage and develop a sense of where communities are headed.
