Join Us in Saving 1721 Princeton Avenue

PAM, Historic Saint Paul, Tangletown neighbors, and other concerned citizens are committed to preserving the historic character of one of St. Paul’s oldest neighborhoods.

Built in 1909, the striking Dutch Colonial house at 1721 Princeton in St. Paul’s Tangletown neighborhood is at great risk of being torn down by its new owners. Construction of two oversized houses has been planned in the home’s beautiful double lot. In early November 2014, 1721 Princeton Avenue was sold by its owners of 42 years, who were unaware of any plans to tear down the house and divide their double lot. They were never informed by the buyers, nor were they informed of the split lot permit application, as is legally required by the City of Saint Paul prior to closing. They have stated publicly that they never would have sold the home to the new owners had they known of their intentions.

Please help us stop the demolition and preserve 1721 Princeton! Your donation will help pay for fees for an attorney experienced in historic preservation who will lead efforts to save this home. It will also help cover the costs of historic preservation specialists who are assisting in this effort. Save 1721 Princeton is a group of Tangletown neighbors and other area residents working together to keep this property intact. We hope the new owners will sell the property so it can be purchased by a family that appreciates its beauty and historic place in our neighborhood. Your gift will help us achieve this goal!
