Lowertown Art Exhibition

23

Through our partnership with Sherman Associates on the Rayette Lofts project in Lowertown Рwe were asked to compile artwork highlighting the historic character in and around Lowertown.

We worked closely with Sherman Associates to help them more efficiently utilize the State Historic Tax Credit when they began the rehabilitation and conversion of the Rayette Building from a parking garage into housing for hundreds in Lowertown.

Our work centered on providing artwork for the elevator lobbies in each of the 7 floors of the building, which led us to do a call for submissions from our friends and partners around the state. We received more than 75 photos and 13 were selected by Sherman Associates for production Рwe wanted to highlight just a few of our favorites and the artists that submitted them.

We also held a walking tour, Picture Yourself Here: A Smartphone Tour of Lowertown with our friend Giesla Hoelscher from Inkblots Digital Art. She provided a guided tour of Lowertown teaching our attendees how to take better photos with their smartphones highlighting historic buildings throughout the neighborhood.

We were able to select a number of these photos to include in the artwork on display at the Rayette Lofts Grand Opening Celebration. Here’s just a few of them to get a sense of the wonderful photos submitted.
