Recent Past

While much preservation literature focuses on early American history, it is important to note that the recent past is also worth considering in historic preservation.

Not that long ago, historic resources that now fall into the category of “Recent Past” were not considered worthy of preservation. The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota has been behind the Recent Past movement with our sponsoring of the one-day symposium, The Future of the Modern Past in May of 2006 as well as our role as a partner with the National Trust for Historic Preservation when they conducted their Modern Module in the Twin Cities.
