Temporary Position: Architectural History Technician

Location: The 106 Group Ltd., St. Paul, Minnesota

The 106 Group, a cultural resources management & planning firm, is seeking an architectural history technician in our St. Paul office. We have an immediate need for an architectural historian to assist with Phase I identification surveys in the Twin Cities metro area. The survey work is ongoing and would likely last until the end of November/early December 2011. This specific project is local and hotel or per diem will not be provided. This is a short-term entry level position that pays hourly without benefits.

Minimum requirements include a B.A. or B.S. degree in architectural history, historic preservation, planning or closely related field. Previous CRM and/or preservation planning work experience, particularly historic structure survey and identification. Additional skills and experience preferred include:

• Previous experience conducting Phase I surveys and writing building descriptions

• Knowledge of the history and architectural styles of the Midwest and Great Plains

• Working knowledge of current information technologies, particularly working in Access databases and using digital cameras

• The ability to work individually and as a team

• The ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure
