2011 PAM-o-rama Tours

The Best of PAM

As it is our 30th anniversary year, we decided that our PAM-o-rama Tour series should highlight some of our major programmatic successes as an organization. Tours start roughly around 10 am and generally last for three hours (excluding the Little Bus on the Prairie tour). More details will be announced as they are finalized. Click on the individual tour for tickets.

University of Minnesota: October 15, 2011

Over the past several years, the University of Minnesota has undertaken many adaptive reuse and rehabilitation projects at the Minneapolis campus. Previously on PAM’s 10 Most Endangered List, the Old Campus Historic District became a “saved” resource in 1997.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, the district includes 11 saved buildings such as Nicholson Hall and Folwell Hall.  Two buildings in the historic district, Music Education and Wesbrook Hall, have been demolished.  Currently, Northrop Auditorium is undergoing an extensive renovation, which has peaked the curiosity of preservationists, architects and fine arts performers alike.

Please join us for a tour of the past, present and future of preservation at the University of Minnesota.  The tour will begin with an informal conversation about both the opportunities and challenges of preserving history at the University of Minnesota.  We will then visit a number of buildings on campus, including the Mayo Chapel, the newly rehabilitated Folwell Hall and a hard-hat tour of Northrop Auditorium.

Tickets: $10/$15
